Glunz SG Mod- 60

All I know about the manufacturer of this camera is, that it was Glunz in Hannover, Germany. The camera itself is quite familiar to me, because it was used by my father. Film format is 9 x 12cm glass plates or comparable in a pack of 6 to 16 celluloid sheets. Lens is famous Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 1:4,5, F13,5 cm and the shutter is Compur 1 - 1/200.
Like many of old plate cameras Glinz SG Mod 60 has a Double-Extension ability for close -ups.

According the plate which is fixed on the body the seller of this camera is Thummler & Wittenberg Photo Handlung , Hannover, Georg Str.24,

Accessory list for this Glunz is quite extensive. A variety of close-up lenses, filters, wooden tripod, magnesium (flash) holder, cases for film plates and perhaps the most important of all, a black cloth to maintain the darkness for accurate focusing. One special feature of these early plate cameras is the possibility to shift the lens position. Just like in modern shift lenses, which are mostly used in architecture and industrial photography. Allthough today same perspective corrections can be easily made by prosessing software.

Real through the lens focusing.

Tilt/Shift lenses

What are they and for what are they done? I might straighten things if I say that tilt ability is for controlling depth of field and shift lenses are for controlling perspective. Tilting a lens increases depth of field regardless of aperture. Shifting a lens side wards to the optical axle it distorts the perspective by straightening parallel lines. In a "nature" you see what you imagine to see when you are looking at, for instance a high building. The walls seem to be in a line with each others as they naturally in most cases are. When looking a picture, human brains did not perform this straightening.
