Minolta Dynax 60
It is said, that one of the best ways to experience the joy of photography is to start with a 35mm SLR camera. Konica Minolta’s DYNAX 60 awarded the “European SLR Camera of the Year 2004-2005”. These were my starters, Minolta X-700, which I bought after Asahi Pentax Spotmatic was The European Camera of the Year 1982-83, so the line continues.
The camera has to have something to "earn" this kind of statement. What is then those features and capabilities in Minolta Dynax 60 (Minolta Maxxum 70 in USA). The EISA - European Imaging and Sound Association stated, that Minolta Dynax 60 is the ideal synthesis of attractive price and generous equipment. If you wish, it can automatically do everything, except choosing the subject and the framing but if you prefer manual control, you just go for it. Apart from its high-quality, compact body, the Dynax 60 is impressive primarily for its speed and precision in use. In this manner it is better, than my couple of years older Pentax MZ-5n.
The nine-point AF with a central cross sensor and multi-dimensional predictive focus control enables very good focusing even on moving subjects. I have still noticed that it sometimes has a tendency to a moderate hunting, specially with the rather slow. 75-300mm lens. The Dynax 60 permits manual override of the focusing system by DMF (Direct Manual Focus) on Minolta D-Series lenses. The brightness of the viewfinder is not in a class with the professional line of Minolta SLR cameras. The body is a sturdy in design sophistication, and it's packed with features and user-friendly controls that put a range of functions at your fingertips. The special feature is, that the back cover is hinged on the left side of the body to allow greater access to the film chamber when inserting the film cartridge. Once the film is loaded, an automatic film chamber lock prevents the camera from being opened until the film is rewound. As a conclusion I would state; High-Speed AF SLR with Powerful Creative Controls.
"Konica Minolta Photo Imaging, Inc. ceased the camera business on March 31, 2006. As of April 1st, 2006, Sony Corporation is providing customer service for Konica's, Minolta's, and Konica Minolta's cameras and camera-related products except for the binoculars." The potential know-how of three Japanese companies is now integrated under the lead of the giant of electronics, entertainment and financial services, Sony Corporation. |
